At the beginning of the week I mentioned on Instagram that I have been in a bit of a creative rut. I guess life and work got busy, and I didn’t have any energy left over for much blog fun. I think I needed the week off for Thanksgiving to get my wheels turning. Thankfully, I’m feeling creative now and have several things planned for the blog this coming month. But we’ll start off with a regular type of post today. Let me tell you about my favorite things from the month of November.
Beautycounter
Beautycounter had a major sale this month. We learned about all of the incredible holiday sets (makeup, skincare, bath and body, family). They announced the incredible Black Friday deal, and then Cyber Monday rolled around and we got even lower prices. I mention it being one of my favorite things because I had so many lovely clients order some #betterbeauty, and I also acquired new clients! THANK YOU! I cannot say it enough. I appreciate the support more than I can say. It’s also a favorite because those people are making a switch to safer products. The beauty industry is so unregulated. I’m thrilled when people choose to try a safer product. Black Friday and Cyber Monday may be over, but you can always shop the wonderful products at my Beautycounter website.
Wedding Weekend
Paul had the privilege to be in his friend’s wedding this month. It was insanely beautiful and so much fun. It was held at the Coca Cola Bottling Plant in Opelika. I’d never been to this venue before, but it was stunning and had such a great atmosphere. Paul and I had a great time dancing like fools and laughing a ton. This is the most serious picture we got that night-both totally cheesing and on the brink of the funniest “photo shoot” we’ve ever had. My Instagram feed has a pretty good selection of those photos if you want to have a chuckle.
The Sound of Music at Alabama Shakespeare Festival
My class went on a field trip to ASF this month to see The Sound of Music. We spent the days leading up to the field trip learning about the movie version and what was happening in the world at the time. Each day was full of questions and lots of learning. It may have been my favorite week of teaching ever. I’m a sucker for live theater, so a field trip to ASF wasn’t even intimidating because I meant we were going to behave and enjoy the show. 🙂 And we did! I laughed, I sang, and I cried. It was a beautiful show with unbelievable talent. Go. See. This. Show.
New Book
I’ve started a new book. Dan Brown’s newest book, Origin. Y’all, I don’t know how he manages to hook you with the Preface of the book, but he does! I haven’t been able to put it down. It’s been a thrilling ride so far. If you’re familiar with any of his other books, you know that most of them are surrounded by controversy. This one has no shortage of controversy. In fact, it’s full of it, but each of Brown’s books are clearly stated to be works of complete fiction. I’m always incredibly entertained by them and very much enjoy the character of Robert Langdon. I’ll let you know if I recommend it once I’m finished with it. So far, two thumbs way up.
Hallmark Movies
Well, we all knew this was coming. Don’t we all enjoy a Hallmark movie or two? I think so. I have too many on my DVR, but I did enjoy A Shoe Addict’s Christmas.
Spotify
I’m new to Spotify. I am just getting my feet wet and figuring out how it all works, but I managed to find a few playlists that I’m really enjoying. The Everygirl has great playlists for all occasions. Their holiday playlist is really fun. If you use Spotify, the free version, give me some pointers.
I hope you’ve had a great November. I know we’re all getting ready for a busy month ahead but don’t forget to slow down and enjoy it a little bit.
And come on back tomorrow for the first of many gift guides! If you don’t want to miss out on any of those, then make sure to enter your email in the bar at the top of the screen. I’ll send each gift guide straight to your inbox.
Happy Friday, friends! Enjoy the weekend!
