Hi, friends! Anyone else got a real case of the hurry-up-and-clear-out-the-pollen-so-I-can-get-outside-and-enjoy-the-spring-weathers? This self-proclaimed winter lover is really ready for the warmer temps, but only like the sunny and 75 stuff. Nothing higher. I immediately want winter again at the first sign of sweat.
All this talk and teasing of spring-like weather (What was with those 40 degree temps we got last Sunday?) got me really wanting to bust out the sundresses and sandals. I went to my closet and looked for things that might work for that, and I realized I might be missing a few of the bigger trends for spring and summer. But that’s nothing a little shopping won’t fix. 🙂 Based on my fashion blogger friends, fashion magazines, the various fashion related social media accounts I follow, and the television shows I watch, here’s a list of seven trends we’ll be seeing this spring and a few links to get you the looks.
Snake Print
If you aren’t living under a rock, you probably noticed this one. It’s virtually everywhere. Especially shoes and jewelry. I saw these cute pants on Kelly from Velvet’s Edge. (below photo) You know, come to think of it, I used to have a pair of red, faux leather, snake print pants when I was a teenager. Mom, how old was I? Do you remember those? Man, I wish I had a picture!
I even got my hands on a pair of super cute earrings because I WON A CONTEST for the soon to be open Eight28 Boutique. Use the link to enter your email and be notified when their site goes live and follow them on Instagram and Facebook for info on their opening.
Florals
“Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.”- Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada
Yes, florals. Why not? Is there not anything more perfect for spring than a floral print? Especially a pink one. This dress from Wisteria Cottage screams spring. The cutest mama-to-be picked one up last weekend for her shower. She’s having a girl, and I couldn’t think of a better dress for her to wear. This also proves it can be worn with a bump.
Flatforms
This style of shoe is so now. I have seen them in varying heights and styles. I saw some super cute ones at Target.
And Walmart even got in the action. They aren’t available in our store, but they are online and can be shipped.
I think this style of shoe is an excellent way to elevate a casual outfit and still keep it comfy. You’ll likely find these anywhere and in lots of boutiques!
Statement Earrings
Y’all know a love a good earring. I think they haven’t gone out of style in quite a while, but I think when a statement earring is done in bright colors, you just can’t help but love them. I have been particularly obsessed with a pair from Baublebar, but the near $40 price tag kept me from purchasing. I was doing some late night, online, window shopping (Is that a thing?) and found an exact dupe for the ones I want for a fraction of the price! Go ahead and insert that praise hand emoji. How great is this color for spring?
Kendra Scott also has some really great ones right now. I’m in love with these pink ones. Yes please!!
Hats
Whether it’s a fedora, cowboy hat, baseball cap, or a really wide brim to protect your face, a hat can totally take a cute spring (or fall) look to the next level. That’s my favorite part of the Kentucky Derby! I have a few hats that I like to wear, and they are perfect for those summer nights you need to look presentable but you’ve been at the pool all day.
Blush
It’s been the color of the moment for a while now, but it keeps getting better. And I really don’t think it’s going anywhere anytime soon.
Isn’t this dress precious? It’s at Loft right now and would make the cutest Easter dress.
Here’s one more cute purse from Walmart. Y’all, I know I keep posting their links, but Walmart is killing it right now! I just love this one.
Layered Necklaces
This is one trend I can get behind. I am crazy about this look and have been keeping my eyes open for one I can wear on the daily. Wisteria Cottage has some cute ones with a cross, but they’re available in-store only. It’s got a Y-chain, which doesn’t always sit well on me, so I’m looking for something a little more traditional. I found the one above on Amazon for about $11!
BONUS: Scallop Hems and Eyelet and Straw Purses
Scallop hems, eyelet, and straw bags have been really sticking out to me lately, too. And how feminine and sweet are they for spring and summer!? Both the shorts and dress are from Loft, but the top is from Wisteria Cottage. That blue is so pretty and flattering on just about everyone and will likely go very fast! I’ve been seeing round straw bags at Walmart, and Wisteria is bringing them home from market with more to come in later. I can’t wait!
Happy Saturday, my friends! It may seem like an overload of fashion on my social media and might seem that way here on the blog soon, too, but it’s on my mind right now! And people are asking me about this stuff all the time. My hope is that this kind of post helps you in shopping for your spring and summer wardrobe. **My best advice would be to not spend too much money on trendy pieces. That’s part of the reason why I’ve included such affordable options here. I know that every time I turn around I see something cute that I want, but if we remember to shop for the trendy items at a lower price point, when they go out of style we won’t be so upset about it.
Which one of these spring trends is your favorite?
