HI, friends! Welcome to week three of The Wear Color Challenge. I gotta tell ya, this week was a bust. I wore mostly neutrals. I was in a funk all week, and it was super stressful. We had state testing at school, and my students and I were all nervous. There’s too much pressure put on third graders! Not to mention a full moon. The state should seriously review the moon patterns before scheduling these tests.
Anyway, I started out on a high note, but it went downhill from there.
Monday
I started the week out strong with all the color in this top. I got it from my aunt who was handing down some old clothes. It came from Cato, but I couldn’t find it online anywhere. I did find a similar colorful one that I linked for you. I also really hurt my back and wore the same shoes all week because heels hurt it too much. I have a mild case of Scoliosis, so that’ll do it every time.
Paul called and told me date night needed to be a day early, so we got ready and headed out for happy hour at Wintzell’s. I ditched the color for our date, but I really liked this look.
Tuesday
My back was killing me on Tuesday, so I opted for comfort. I did throw in a pop of blue with my earrings from The Jeweled Cactus and my Kendra Scott necklace.
Wednesday
My back was a little better on Wednesday but still not 100%, so I went for comfort again. No color today, though.
Thursday
Thursday was the first day of state testing which is a very quiet day where I have to walk around and observe my students while they take a test on a computer. I was also feeling the PMS bloat (TMI, I know. I don’t care), so I put on my biggest, most comfy jeans, a lightweight sweater over my favorite tee, and added the cute earrings. No color, and not my best effort, but not a complete bum.
Friday
Friday was a completely different story. I absolutely looked like a bum. I did wear color, though. We had another testing day plus a carnival and something else…I can’t even remember now…oh, the Kona Ice Truck. All the things happened on Friday. It was a mess, and I was glad to get home.
Saturday
I had to work on Saturday at Wisteria Cottage, and I totally reached for that blazer from Monday again. It’s one of my favorite pieces I bought last year. I didn’t know how much I’d love it when I bought it. It goes with everything. Now if I could just find a similar black one…. 🙂
Sunday
This is the first Easter in a long time that I didn’t buy something new to wear. I reached for the Target dress that I wore last week to the bridal shower for Anna in her home town. I kept the outfit exactly the same and was very comfortable. It carried me through two church services, breakfast, and lunch. Thankfully my back was feeling much better by Sunday, and I was able to wear my heels.
After getting home from Easter lunch, I hopped straight into my pjs and sweats for meal prepping and Gilmore Girls watching. If only this was considered appropriate work attire.
What I Learned in Week Three
This week was extra stressful. There’s a lot of pressure put on the students and the teachers for the children to perform well on the state tests. I definitely felt the pressure this year, and I let it get the best of me. Not to mention my back was hurting pretty severely, my attitude wasn’t the greatest due to moodiness, and it was a full moon. All that being said, I was simply unable to successfully put my creative brain to good use and work to add color into my wardrobe most days last week.
I also learned that that’s okay. Part of this challenge was to wear what I have without buying anything else. I succeeded in that part of the challenge, but I did reach more for the neutrals. And I wasn’t mad at myself for it. I’ll do better next week.
Someone asked me was it okay to wear a black dress to church on Easter. I told them of course it was and to wear what they wanted to wear and not worry about it. Had I not had that Target dress, I’m sure mine would have been black. 🙂 What color was your Easter dress?
