Hi, friends! Four weeks! I still have a few more days in April, but I did it! Well, I didn’t successfully wear color every day, but I came pretty darn close. This particular week was a bit of a crazy one because we were leading up to my brother’s wedding this past weekend, so all those outfits are included here, too.
Monday
If you remember from last week, my back has been giving me fits. I am having to wear flats almost all the time, so I’m definitely getting my $8 out of those Walmart flats I wear constantly. 🙂 The jeans are super old so I linked a similar pair. The scarf is from the $5 sale they have at the hospital every so often. Keep your eyes open for it. They have tons of stuff and everything is $5! The cardigan is from a thrift store, I’m pretty sure. But I linked a similar one.
Tuesday
Tuesday was my birthday, and I wanted to punch it up in the color department. It was the best day! I was showered with plenty of birthday wishes at school from my students, a few sweet gifts, all the hand-made cards, and lots of hugs and high fives. Paul always makes my birthday so special, and Tuesday was no exception. To end the day, my parents took us to dinner at The Alabama Grill for pizza, my favorite birthday food! *This pink top is from The Limited from several years ago, but if you’ve been following Wisteria Cottage on Instagram or Facebook, then you know they got in a very similar option last week. Hurry and get yours before they’re gone!
Wednesday
I woke up Wednesday with a sore throat and some familiar allergy symptoms. This time of year just about does me in. I decided to go for comfort instead of cute since this was the last day of state testing. It usually makes for a long day, and I wanted to at least feel comfortable. Looking back at the outfit, I don’t really like it at all. The scarf was a bad idea. I also tried an updo that I thought I might attempt for the wedding on Saturday, but by the end of the day it looked like a rat had nested itself at the nape of my neck. Overall everything was bad that day.
Thursday
Thursday was my Friday this week because I took off to prepare for and travel to the wedding location. The rehearsal and dinner would be Friday night, so I needed the day to prepare for all things wedding. But on Thursday I busted out the mustard pants again and one of my favorite tops I got from Wisteria, paired it with my trusty flats (would have been so cute with a black or camel colored flatform), and some of the cutest earrings I got from True South on Wednesday afteroon. I post my outfit every morning on my stories, and so many of you told me on Instagram that you loved this outfit. Thank you!
Thursday night was another night out for us to see the opening performance of Putting on the Ritz. This is a production our local theater group puts on, and it was entitled The Greatest Show. And boy was it! I am always amazed at the crazy talent we have in this town. My father-in-law was a part of it, and it was lots of fun. More to come on this in my April favorites post later this week.
I have been wearing out this blazer, and I’m not apologizing for it. I wish so badly I had it in black. There may not have been any color in my outfit, but I felt put together after having been caught in my previous outfit in the monsoon that came. Anyone else? Soaked!
Friday
Friday was a travel day for us to the town of Thomasville, Alabama where we would be spending the night and having the rehearsal dinner. I decided to travel in the dress I would wear, but I opted for the flats instead of the heels I’d change into later. This dress is in our Walmart stores and in several color options.
I added my Time and Tru wedges I also got from Walmart, and called it done for the rehearsal and dinner. The whole vibe of the wedding was very casual and laid back, so the leopard dress I was planning to wear was way too fancy. I’m so thankful I found this cute dress for $13 and could dress it up with accessories! And the best part- pockets, duh!
Saturday
Again, I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I really was truly honored to stand next to Anna as her Matron of Honor. It meant so much to me. She was the most lovely bride, so happy and calm all day, and not to mention, completely gorgeous. She gifted the bridesmaids with these adorable satin robes that are extremely comfy and equally cute. We each got the aqua color while she got the white. I can’t wait to see those pictures!
Anna chose the teal blue halter dress with a drawstring waist for our bridesmaids dresses. The other two bridesmaids are pregnant and needed a dress that would work well with a bump. I think it looked great on all three of us. One of the girls said she was thinking of wearing it for some maternity pictures later on. It’s going to be one of those bridesmaids dresses I hold onto. And what about Paul? Didn’t he look so handsome? We clean up alright. 🙂
Sunday
Lots of relaxing on Sunday. Did not leave these clothes all day. Comfort level was super high especially since I was camped out at this computer most of the day…in between loads of laundry, of course.
What I Learned in Week Four
The more I kept trying to find more outfits to wear, the more I realized how many neutral basics I have. I have decided that’s certainly not a bad thing. In fact, it’s probably a good thing. Just scrolling back through the pics from this week’s outfits shows that I’ve reached for mostly dark/neutral basics.
I also learned that my mood and how I’m physically feeling totally affected my outfit choice. My back hurting definitely has limited my shoe options, and that’s changed how I’ve dressed. Shoes are often my jumping off point with an outfit, and I missed out on more than one opportunity to wear something more fun. It’s on the mend, but standing all day in heels on Saturday set me back again, so I’ll be opting for flats most of the upcoming week.
If you’ve enjoyed this kind of post documenting my weekly outfits and adding links, let me know. I’ll keep it up if you’ve found it helpful and interesting. I’ll be finishing out the month of April over on Instagram, so check there to see the last few days of April outfits and if I managed to finish strong with color. 🙂 Comment here on this post to let me know if you’d like me to keep up the posts. Thanks for sticking with me on this journey. It’s been fun!
Yes keep up the post if you have time.
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback!
