Happy, happy Saturday! I’m officially two weeks into the school year, and whew, is it catching up to me. I am one tired teacher. I’m happy to be able to enjoy this weekend, though.
One of the toughest areas for me to get a set-in-stone design plan for is the master bedroom. Paul and I share common ideas about our room, but his are sometimes more on the practical side whereas I like to have practicality mixed with pretty. One thing we have both agreed on is our bed. We chose a cream colored, tufted headboard with clean lines while we were living in Louisiana, and we have been very pleased with it. Though we’re not in the market for a new one, I still look at them from time to time and dream of the next one when we finally make the switch to a king size bed. I’ve put together a list of seven headboard ideas for you to peruse with your Saturday morning coffee. Each photo is linked for your convenience.
Upholstered Headboards
Upholstered headboards add a bit of coziness to a bedroom. They are comfortable and yet still quite stylish.
Bold Color or Patterned Headboards
Not everyone is a neutral lover like I am, and these headboards are perfect for you bold, color lovers.
Paint a Headboard
Maybe you don’t have it in your budget for a new bed or headboard but you want to set your bed apart. Get creative, buy a can or a quart of paint, and paint yourself a headboard. I love how these two are understated but definitely give the illusion that there is indeed a headboard.
Wooden Headboards
Windows as Headboards
My parents picked up a window off the side of the road for me once. It sits on top of my dresser in my bedroom, but if I had two, I’d definitely use them to make a headboard.
Mirrors as Headboards
I’ve been loving these oversize mirrors from Anthropologie, but I’d never have thought to prop them behind a bed. Very clever.
Bookcase Headboards
I wish I had a picture of my own bookshelf headboard. I found one in a catalog once and asked my granddaddy to make it for me. He did, and I still have it, but it was custom made to fit a full size bed. It was such a perfect thing for me to have as a teenager. I was able to put my pictures, books, phone (landline- haha), and any other little trinket teenagers like to hold onto on each shelf. It was the best.
Well, friends, I hope that you have gotten some ideas for your own bedroom. What would be your ideal headboard situation? I hope that you have a fabulous weekend!
