I have to admit that I resisted this trend for a while. I thought maybe snakeskin wasn’t for me. Then the Nordstrom Anniversary sale happened and I thought I needed these booties.
But the price…I couldn’t justify $100 on shoes that I wasn’t sure I’d absolutely love.
No sooner than those words came out of my mouth I bought a snakeskin tunic from Wisteria Cottage. (It’s no longer available.)
And I love wearing it. It’s comfortable, flattering, and in my neutral palette safe zone.
Then one day while ordering dog food online from Walmart, I started looking at what the Time and Tru brand had. I’ve been seeing some really cute tops lately, so I typed in Time and Tru in the search bar and came across these.
Um, yes please. I decided that snakeskin would be treated like a neutral in my closet, and I would get tons of wear out of them. The under $20 price tag didn’t hurt either. I decided to try them out with a few outfits, and wanted to share how versatile they are.
An all black outfit is my favorite kind of outfit and the one I repeat the most. With fall coming up, hopefully, I’ll be wearing things like black sweaters, black denim, and these mules.
Sorry for the wrinkled dress, Mom. I traveled in it the day before, wore it out after attending a wedding (in a different dress), then it traveled again but this time in the suitcase. However, I like the mustard color with the snakeskin. It’s a little unexpected. I was thinking how great the dress would go with my leopard accessories (cardigan, scarf, booties), but I’m digging this combo. I threw a black sweater over top of it, which I really like.
I tried a little pattern mixing this time but stuck with the neutral color palette. That’s the key to mixing patterns well: staying in a similar color palette. I’ll definitely wear this outfit.
I am really trying to will fall to show up with all these sweaters. I can’t wear this now, but I will definitely pull this look out once the temps go down.
And if mules aren’t your thing, then you should check out the bootie version. Aren’t they cute?
I almost bought these instead, but at the last minute I switched to the mules, and I know it was the right decision for me.
As far as the fit goes, they are extremely comfortable. I’ll be able to wear these all day teaching. That’s a total win in my book. They fit true to size. Half sizes weren’t available, but what I usually do is size up the half size, and that was the right move. Definitely size up the half size. They fit perfectly. The pointed toes do not pinch, but if you want to preserve your pedicure, I suggest that you purchase a few pairs of these. I wear them with every pair of mules I own and all of my backless booties.
Which would you choose? The booties or the mules? Are you even a fan of snakeskin? Tell me in the comments.
I LOVE your style. And I have so many of these shirts, I just need the shoes!
Get those shoes, girl! I’ll ride to Troy with you! Haha! 🙂
