Taco Pizza Recipe

School is in full swing around here, well, it has been for a while, and that means I’m reaching for quick dinner recipes. Though this one may not be the healthiest of options, it sure is tasty and will surely please the whole family.

The crust is made of crescent rolls, so right away you have yourself the first layer of deliciousness.

Then you layer refried beans, taco meat of your choice. We like ground chicken or ground deer meat.

Then top with cheese.

Once it’s baked, you add the toppings of your choice. It could basically the seven layer dip we all love but in a pizza form.

Ingredients:

2 8-count crescent roll packages
Taco Seasoning (Packet or Homemade)
1 can refried beans
1 pound ground chicken
Mexican blend cheese
Choice of toppings: lettuce, tomato, salsa, guac, sour cream, black olives, jalapenos, etc.

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to the recommended cook time of the crescent rolls. Usually 375.
  2. Roll out both packages of crescent roll dough flat onto a baking sheet and press the edges or seems together and up the sides of the pan to form your pizza crust. Bake for 9 minutes or shortest amount of time on the range given on the package instructions.
  3. While the crust bakes, cook the ground chicken and add taco seasoning. Also warm the beans in a small saucepan so they will spread more easily over the crust.
  4. Once the crust has cooked for 9 minutes, remove from oven and spread the beans to create a “sauce”.
  5. Next layer the taco meat.
  6. Sprinkle cheese over the top of the meat.
  7. Bake again until cheese is melted and pizza is fully warmed through.
  8. Cut and serve with your choice of toppings.

Y’all know I love a customizable dish, and this one totally fits the bill. Think about all of the extras you could add: onions to the taco meat, corn kernels, black beans, the list really is endless. Anything you like on your tacos, nachos, or taco salads would be delicious on this pizza.

This pizza definitely stands on it’s own as a meal, but it’s great with a side of chips and salsa. It would also be great cut into smaller pieces and served warm to a crowd. Perhaps for an upcoming game day.

I hope you get to enjoy this dish with your family and that you’ll let me know when you do! Have a great one, y’all!
