I sure hope October is bringing some cooler temperatures! So long, September and your record highs, your drought, and your ridiculous power bills. We are all done with you! October, please bring us highs of 80 instead of 100, the desire to drink hot coffee instead of iced, the need to wear the sweaters we’ve all been buying but haven’t been able to wear, and better attitudes because we’ll no longer be drenched in sweat. Please and thank you.
I’m not as bitter as I sound, but I sure am ready for October. October really signifies fall to me. It’s essentially the beginning of the holiday season, and let’s face it, there’s just something about this time of year that can make you feel hope and happiness like no other time of the year can. It’s a time of new beginnings and opportunity, and I always have a sense of optimism inside when October rolls around. I am trying to set my intentions for this season since I’m already realizing how busy it’s going to be. But for now, let’s reflect on some of the greatness of September.
Products I’m Loving
One of my favorite products was definitely my snakeskin mules that I scored at Walmart for under $20. I’m so happy so many of you have liked them and gotten them for yourselves!
Another Walmart find I’ve been loving is the new round brush I got. I have taken the time to section my hair off while blow drying it and giving myself a proper blowout. And this brush makes all the difference! I love it and highly recommend it.
Another product I’ve been loving is the Essie Gel Couture Top Coat. I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I haven’t found a top coat that has worked like this one before. Well, not one that didn’t cost way more. This top coat provides the longest manicure I’ve had and leaves a great shine. My ombre manicure lasted beautifully because of it.
Let’s switch to skincare for a second. I ran out of my beloved Clear Pore Cleanser and was without it for quite a while. I placed the reorder with a few other things that had a delayed shipping date, so when it finally arrived, I was one happy gal. I know I’ve sung its praises before, but it’s worth repeating. It has made such a difference in my skin. Major decrease in blackheads and my skin feels so good after using it. It’s a daily delight to use this product.
Okay, these next products I can only say how excited I am to have them. I haven’t had enough time to put them to the test since I got them at the end of the month. But I am so happy to have gotten the Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream and the Overnight Resurfacing Peel. I have taken my before pictures and will be updating you soon.
I also got some pretty incredible holiday items from Beautycounter that I can’t wait to show you!
Recipes I’m Loving
I may have shared this before, but even if I have, you can learn about it again. This sausage and gnocchi recipe is out-of-this-world delicious. And if you have a freezer full of deer meat of every variety, then you are already ahead of the game. It is delicious in this dish.
I shared my taco pizza recipe here this past week, and it’s always a quick and easy weeknight meal.
I recently started following a girl on Instagram whose handle is @memorymakinmomma. My own mama told me that she has the best ideas and really great recipes, so I decided to check her out. Y’all she’s absolutely delightful and really does give great and thoughtful gift ideas and delicious recipe suggestions. Paul and I tried one of them this month and really enjoyed it. It was so easy (crock pot meal) and delicious, too. It’s called Crock Pot Sun Dried Tomato Chicken and you can find the recipe here. I also pinned it to my Recipes board on Pinterest if you follow me there.
I also found these recipes on Instagram and haven’t tried them but plan to soon. I wanted to share since y’all love a good recipe, too. The chicken tender recipe is saved to that same Recipes board on Pinterest.
Shows I’m Loving
September brought the return of prime time TV, and we couldn’t be happier in the Norman house. We watch a lot of TV, but our favorite is NCIS. This particular season begins with Ziva, and we’re pretty pumped!
We’ve also been watching the Country Music series on PBS and have found that quite interesting. If you’re a country music fan, then I definitely recommend watching it.
We also started Outlander, but Paul isn’t really into it. I like it, of course, but I’m afraid I’ll be finishing it by myself.
I also started watching Poldark after watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel AGAIN! I can’t get enough and am so excited for season 3 in December.
I also decorated for fall with pumpkins while watching two of my favorite fall movies, When Harry Met Sally and You’ve Got Mail. Sometimes watching a favorite movie is just good for your soul.
Random Things I’m Loving
Paul, his parents, and I went to a lovely wedding in Mobile this month, and it was so incredibly beautiful. The ceremony had an orchestra that nearly brought tears to my eyes, a soloist that had the same effect on me and, funny enough, resembled Paul a little. Paul was approached multiple times at the reception and told what a great job he did singing during the ceremony. Haha! But the reception venue was absolutely stunning, and we had a great time.
Two of my friends sent me the following picture telling me it made them think of me, and I feel like I’ve never been known better in my life. 🙂 My affinity for elf culture is real, y’all. I think I may need to actually make this.
I think that’s a good note to end on. How was your September? Did you discover anything good? Tell me in the comments. I’d love to hear and try new things in October. Have a great week, y’all!
