Today starts my first official week of summer! I’ve already got a list of projects I want to do, and I’ve started on one of them. Remember those Target curtains I talked about a few weeks ago? Well, I felt like they were missing something. I searched the ‘gram for some inspiration and found it in these curtains from Jewel Marlowe. Jewel has provided tons of inspiration for home decor because more is more when it comes to home decor for her, and she does it so well. Check out her home.
I can’t wait to see how my curtains turn out. I’m still working out the kinks of how it will all come together, but I’m up for the challenge. Let’s get on with the 5 things that are good this week.
COVID Mask (But make it fashion)
I keep telling y’all about my favorite Louisiana boutique, Simply Chic in Baton Rouge, but it’s because Kelley is one of the kindest people on the planet. She so graciously sent this mask to me, and I am in love. They are coming back in stock this week! And don’t forget they come in adult and kid sizes. Such a precious mommy and me look.
Abita Strawberry
There are many things Paul and I miss about Louisiana: mostly the people but also the food and drinks. We miss crawfish, gumbo, drive-thru daiquiri places, and snowball stands, and the local brewing companies that were so good. One of them being Abita and their summertime classic, Strawberry Lager. One of Paul’s friends came to Greenville to play the RTJ trail, and he brought us some of this goodness. He also brought some jambalaya and pastalaya from Pot and Paddle. It was delicious. I know Abita Strawberry isn’t something that is available around here, but I bet if you talked to III at III’s Southern Spirits and Brew, he’d be able to figure out a way to get us some.
Ina Garten Homemade Salad Dressing
This past week I was craving salad. I had the greens but only had Ranch dressing. I’m not a Ranch dressing on my salad kind of girl, so I had to find a new alternative. This whole recipe (Parmesan Chicken) is worth making, but the dressing is really great if you want a fresh, bright, light dressing for any salad.
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (2 lemons)
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Whisk together and pour over salad. I store the extra in an air-tight container on the counter.
Sweet Magnolias
Another week, another TV show. I took a chance on this wholesome show about three southern women, and I have been left wanting more! It was cute, a little corny, but a lot fun. I hope they get picked up for more seasons. I may need to read the book series before it comes out, though. Who knows how long it’ll be before shows can start filming again? I definitely recommend this one.
Half Baked Harvest
I’ve discovered a new Instagram account that has given me all the inspiration for trying new recipes. I don’t quite need to make another grocery run yet, but when I do I think I’ll be grabbing the items to make some of her recipes. Check out this one. And don’t miss her stories for a breakdown of how to make each recipe. Plus there’s some pretty adorable goat content. 🙂
Alright, y’all. Now tell me something good that you know in the comments. I hope you have a great week and stay safe.
