5 Good Things | No. 11

Happy September, my friends! I just love that change in the calendar when August gives way to September. Something about seeing that word September makes me so hopeful for fall. I don’t know exactly what it is about this time of year- pumpkin spice, football, falling leaves- whatever it is, it makes me want to put on a pair of boots, get a hot coffee, and walk through a park with orange and yellow and red trees. Now, we won’t see trees that color until about November here in Alabama, and my air conditioner is steadily running, but a girl can dream. And dream I will! So as wonderful as the calendar saying September now is, I do have five more good things to share with you.

Office Supplies

The start of school means brand new supplies. Remember that line in You’ve Got Mail about the bouquet of sharpened pencils? Make mine a bouquet of Paper Mate Ink Joy gel pens with the click top in all the pretty colors and you’ve just made my day. And that’s precisely what I’ve got!

Make your child’s teacher extra happy this crazy school year with a pack of these awesome pens.

Travel Coffee Mug

My latest go-to travel coffee mug is by the brand Magellan (found often at Academy). It is a matte black mug with a handle and lid that closes completely. Since these first few weeks of school are sans students, I’ve had the luxury of drinking my coffee quickly and taking as many bathroom breaks as I’ve wanted. This mug is perfect for that. Of course it keeps my coffee warmer than a regular mug, and I genuinely love it, but if you’re in need of a travel mug that will keep your coffee hot for hours (yes, hours), then you need to look no further than Thermos. Better than a Yeti!

Longmire and Gossip Girl

I’ve been re-watching Gossip Girl as a comfort show Do y’all do that? Watch something familiar even though you may have seen it a lot and know how it ends? I do this a lot with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Sex and the City. Paul thinks this is the absolute most ridiculous thing. I don’t know how to explain it to him except that I enjoy watching something familiar. The same way I like to watch The Family Stone every Christmas or When Harry Met Sally and You’ve Got Mail in the fall. It just makes me happy.

Paul recently binged Longmire (Netflix). He loved it. I watched a few episodes each season, and I thought it was great. We had just come off of the Yellowstone finale and had nothing really on our radar to watch. It’s a good one to watch if you and your spouse need something new. Definitely recommend!

Fall Nail Color

I love nail polish. I do not love having my nails done. Come the end of August, I get itching for a fall nail. Last week, I pulled deep from the archives of my polish collection and came up with Zoya Tara. Tara is a deep purple that dries dark and is a lovely fall color. And if you’re really into dark, fall nails, you MUST check out their new fall collection. Every single color is perfection.

Walmart Sweatshirt

Oops, I did it again. Actually, the last comfy sweatshirt I found was at Old Navy, but this year I could not resist trying this $11 sweatshirt. It’s the perfect fall color and also the perfect gold for my school colors. It’s incredibly soft and comes in a lot of colors. They’re in Greenville Walmart! It runs true to size and is oh so soft. Highly recommend this comfy layer.

Bonus: Scoop Avery Western Boots from Walmart

I found these boots on a random “Scoop” search on Walmart’s website. I haven’t worn Scoop products before, but when I saw these were just $18 marked down from $45, I had to have them. I must be honest and say that I was coming off of Yellowstone and really feeling the Beth Dutton casual ranch style, and these looked like something she might be into. So, I scooped (no pun intended) them up and am pleasantly surprised with how they look and how they feel. I wore them all day at school to break them in, and though my feet were tired by the end of the day, I was able to make it the whole day. I can’t believe I found such a cute pair of boots for less than $20!

There ya go! 6 good things to get you through the end of the week. Tell me something good in the comments!

    1. Thank you! Aren’t they fun?! I was trying to channel Beth Dutton a little when I bought them. 🙂 Haha!

  1. Matt and I love Longmire and have watched episodes repeatedly. Also, I watch Friends every single time it’s on and can totally repeat the dialog from each episode. It’s totally a comforting, familiar series that I like to have on while I go to sleep. Love that sweatshirt and will try hunting it down this weekend! Enjoyed the read!

    1. Longmire is the perfect show for couples! It’s got a little something for everyone and had way less offensive language than Yellowstone. Friends is also one of my comfort shows. Thanks for reading! 🙂
