How fun and normal was it that football was back on Saturday? We Normans were pretty excited to watch Auburn. I finally got to have rotel cheese dip, which I’ve been craving for about three weeks. We also had regular chores like Bernie getting groomed and Jack getting his nails trimmed. And I got laundry and vacuuming done. It was a pretty productive but low-key weekend. My favorite kind. Also, Paul shot his lowest round of golf at the country club, I found a new gumbo recipe I’m going to try soon, and I just got word that something very cool from Beautycounter is getting ready to launch! So many great things from the week!
Royal Instagram Account
I’ve run across a new Instagram account, @katemidleton1, recently that I am pretty excited about. I’m a fan of the royals and follow quite a few accounts that share their events and even their fashion, but I’ve never found an account as thorough and informative as this one.
The Stationery Shop
I read a great book called The Stationery Shop by Marjan Kamali for book club. The book follows the love story of Iranians Bahman and Roya and their love story that must overcome many obstacles. Heartbreaking and beautiful, you’ll find several parallels to The Notebook. It was a wonderful story.
Fall Dress
I got a great dress from Vici after seeing it on @livingwithlandyn. I had never ordered from Vici before, but I was impressed with the quickness of the delivery and the quality of the items I ordered. I thought this dress could be a fun fall option with nude booties and a felt hat. I might could even belt it and add a leather jacked to give it some edge. But the pale color means it’ll carry into spring easily. *Tip: Buying clothes that cross seasonal lines gives you more bang for your buck when investing in pieces for your wardrobe.
Fall Hat
I also got this awesome wide-brimmed hat. I am very happy with it and can’t wait to have somewhere to wear it. Landyn has a code you can use to get 20% off Monday-Saturday: LWL20 or wait until Sunday and get 25% off with LWL25. Both pieces are on pre-order, so I’d wait until Sunday.
Homemade Applesauce
Friday was Johnny Appleseed Day at my mom’s school, and every year she makes homemade applesauce. The kids always hate it, but that means we grownups get to enjoy the leftovers. This Friday was no exception. Mom called me over to come get some of this fall deliciousness, and I realize I’ve never shared the recipe with you before. Here it is:
Ingredients
10 large apples- peeled, cored, sliced (If slicing apples the night before, cover with pineapple juice to keep from browning.)
1/2 cup water
1 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup sugar
Directions
Mix all ingredients in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4. Mash with a potato masher.
Paul and I served ours over some vanilla ice cream for a delicious fall dessert.
This Week’s Outfits
I’m looking forward to these cooler temperatures coming this week, and we welcome in a new month. Thinking of Halloween decor ideas already! Have a great week!
