I have been following Kathleen Barnes of carriebradshawlied.com on Instagram for a few months, and I must have been living under a rock because she is lovely and has AMAZING style in clothes and home decor.
Anyway, she shared a lot of podcasts over the last few weeks, and I like to be entertained pretty much all the time with music, an audiobook, or a podcast. I gave a few of her recommendations a try, and they were good! Those, mixed with a few I found on my own, will give you plenty of hours of listening time. Keep reading to find out what they are.
Even the Rich (Wondery)
Kathleen mentioned the particular season where the girls discuss JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. I had always heard about this couple and their tumultuous relationship and devastating end, but Aricia and Brooke really dive into some interesting parts of the story. I was fascinated! And the way they tell the stories with appropriate background noise and their accents…quite the production! It’s good listening, y’all.
Naturally, after listening to that one, I had to check out another season. *Each season is about four episodes per topic, so not long at all.* This led to the discover of the Diana to Meghan season. I think it originally aired at the height of the Mexit scandal, and the hosts point out many similarities Meghan and Diana have. If you love the royals, give this a listen.
I couldn’t stop there! I binged the season on The Murdocks in one afternoon. If you’re a fan of the HBO show, Succession, then you’re semi-familiar with the Murdock story. I guess I didn’t know the show was loosely based on this family, but it was. As a huge fan of the show, I definitely got sucked right in to this true story.
Which brings us to the season I’m currently listening to: Jay Z and Beyonce | Crazy in Love. It started in episode one with the Solange-beating-up-Jay-Z-in-the-elevator story. Hook, line, and sinker. It is truly a great podcast, and I am looking forward to listening to the other seasons as well. The current one is about Britney Spears. And we all know how her story is going this year. (Yikes!) After Bey and Jay, I’ll be listening to that one.
Technically this is one podcast, but I feel like I’ve listened to 4 separate ones now since each season is a brand new story. Hence the title of this post.
10 Things to Tell You
Not too long ago, I mentioned the 10 Things to Tell You Podcast when I posted 10 things I’m wearing and when I did the #onedayHH (one day hour-by-hour) and the #10thonthe10th challenge posts on Instagram. Laura always has very interesting topics to discuss and wonderful episodes of the podcast, but last week she blew my socks off when she teamed up with Andrew Och. Andrew is known as the First Ladies Man. He researches all the First Ladies of the USA, and the information you will learn is astounding. If you’re a history lover like I am and a fan of First Ladies, you’ll positively love this episode.
Be There in Five
I think this was another recommendation from Kathleen, and I knew that I likely wouldn’t sit down to read the book Finding Freedom. You know, the book that tells about how Harry and Meghan left the royal family. Luckily, Kate and Merritt break it down in a 2 hour episode. This one lasted me days, and they know their stuff. They both said they listened to the audiobook multiple times. And then they shared all of their thoughts with us. I totally feel like I’ve read the book now.
I know some of you aren’t podcast listeners, but I’d venture to say you could give these a try. There’s a podcast for everyone out there. So. Many. Topics. Have you listened to any of these? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Leave them in the comments.
So excited to listen to all these!! Needed some good recommendations!
YES! You will love these!
