Acquiring art for my home is one of the things I’ve just recently developed a real passion for. I’ve found I have a taste for more original art prints and have started learning about artists that I like. Sure, I still find the occasional print from Hobby Lobby or Home Goods, but I’ve also been on the lookout for artists that fit my taste, and I’ve enjoyed the custom pieces I’ve bought from local artists. For Christmas, I received two pieces from Geoffrey Wood, and I am so happy with them. Take a look.
I’ve been following Geoffrey for a little while on Instagram, and while I thought his art was beautiful, not everything was really for me. He had a lot of wildlife drawings, fish, lures, things like that. But then one day he posted a drawing of a feather. I instantly knew that I wanted it, and I immediately saved the photo and sent it to Paul to see what he thought about getting two for either side of the TV. Paul agreed they were great and that we should get them.
When Christmas rolled around, Paul handed me a big box to open. Inside were two beautiful feather drawings. I was so excited! I love that they’re two different feathers, and the detail is exquisite.
I decided to have them framed at Heart of the Home in Fort Deposit. They have a new location now behind the BBQ restaurant at the Fort Deposit exit. They were very kind and helped me find just the right look I was going for. I could not be happier with the way they turned out.
I just wanted to spread the word of another local artist that does beautiful work and a local business that does too. I hope it inspires you to give them a follow on social media and to shop locally with them for yourself or your loved ones as celebratory days approach. Have a great one, y’all!
