Hello! As we enter another work week, my first full work week of 2022, I thought I’d share a quick makeup routine with you to help get us back in the swing of things. Most of the products I use come from Beautycounter. I love knowing that I’m making a better choice by choosing clean beauty. Making small changes, like adding one of these items to your routine, will significantly impact your health in the long run. Here’s what I do.
Clean Slate
First and foremost, start with a clean face. I use the Countertime Collection to cleanse my face morning and night.
A Good Foundation
When I’m ready for my makeup routine to begin, I reach for the Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer in shade Light. Dew Skin gives you a pretty sheer coverage for a fresh, dewy look, and it has SPF 20. If you’re an Instagram user, you are familiar with the Paris Filter in stories. I like to say Dew Skin is like the Paris Filter but in real life.
Conceal, Conceal, Conceal
While Beautycounter is currently not offering their fabulous concealer due to applicators breaking, I’m happy to say they will be bringing it back this year. If you happen to have one that has broken and still has product in the tube, a Q-tip works just fine. Concealer is my next step in my quick makeup routine.
Rosy Cheeks
Next is blush, and I jumped right on the Cheeky Clean Cream Blush train when they came out in 2021. I opted for shade Chai and wasn’t sure about it at first, but it has turned into a very versatile shade. I even add it to my eyelids and lips when I’m really trying to get out the door quickly. It’s easy to apply with your fingers or with a dense brush. This multi-use product is a great tool to have in your arsenal.
Play Up the Eyes
I just cannot have a face of makeup without something on my lids. I know a lot of you don’t care about eye shadow, but I have been in love with it since I was a little girl playing in my aunt’s Mary Kay samples pretending I was Dolly Parton. Thankfully, I’ve since honed some skills, and when the Lid Glow Cream Shadows came out, I got three neutral shades that are beautiful blended together or worn on their own. They’re shimmery but not glittery, and that’s because they’re made with responsibly sourced mica. I own Sepia, Flash, and Gleam. Sepia is my most reached for shade. It applies easily with the applicator and blends perfectly with your ring finger. They provide an excellent and quick way to have eye shadow, especially if you love it like I do.
Lashes, Baby
For those of us with light eyelashes, we really need that mascara to help us look, well, alive. Ha! I do, anyway. If it ain’t your thing, you do you! Beautycounter came onto the scene with two mascaras that were both… meh. I tried them both and didn’t like either one, so I looked elsewhere. Then, they came out with the Think Big All-in-One Mascara, and it. is. amazing. It’s a carbon black free formula that lengthens, volumizes, and nourishes your lashes. I apply two coats to both the top and the bottom.
Don’t Forget the Brows
This is the product I don’t currently use that is Beautycounter. I was bamboozled at one of those Christmas craft shows into getting a brow kit, and I’m trying to use it up before repurchasing the Brilliant Brow Gel (shade Light) from Beautycounter. It is my favorite brow product. I have used the Color Define Brow Pencil and loved that too, but the gel is just so much easier and faster.
The Best Gloss You’ll Ever Use
I wear the Beyond Gloss every single day. I will sometimes reach for a lipstick, but 9 times out of 10 I’m going for the gloss. Shade Clove is my neutral go-to and shade Mulberry is my favorite for a punch of color. I don’t discriminate against any of the colors, though. They are so richly pigmented, and they aren’t sticky. I promise, if you switch to this gloss, you’ll fall in love. And if you think you aren’t a gloss person, you’re wrong. You’ll love it. And if you don’t, Beautycounter has an excellent return policy, and I’ll eat my words and admit that I was the one who was wrong.
Get It All for a Discount
So, let’s just say you think switching to clean beauty is a great idea, and you want to give it a try. Beautycounter offers a set called the Flawless in Five, a five minute routine to a flawless face. You’ll get five products to get you out the door in record time each morning, and you’ll look fabulous when you’re done. You get to choose the products and the colors you want, and you can do it all for $130. The only thing you won’t have in this set is the eye shadow, but what an excellent add-on that would be!
