Did you know that only about 30 ingredients are eliminated from our beauty products? 30! In the UK they ban over 1,300 harmful ingredients. Our beauty industry seems unregulated, and most of us aren’t even aware. Thankfully, Beautycounter is a safer beauty company that uses a Never List- a list of over 1,500 ingredients that they vow never to use in their products. Here are a few:
Many of you know that I’m a Beautycounter consultant. I’ve been very pleased with the results of my skin care and makeup that I’ve been using. I also quite enjoy the body wash and lotions, sunscreens, and hair products. And had my friend, Kelly, not asked me if I’d ever heard about this company or about the state of our beauty industry, I’d have been none the wiser. Of course, I’d love for you to switch to safer beauty with me at Beautycounter and hope that you’ll email or leave a comment if you are interested in learning more, but I’m actually here today to give you a list of people you need to be following on social media to get a wealth of knowledge on how to clean up your beauty products to ensure safer ingredients are going on your skin.
Let’s start with the person who will knock your socks off with how smart she is, Lindsay Dahl. Lindsay is the VP, Social and Environmental Responsibility at Beautycounter. Her Instagram account is so informative. She never fails to share when Beautycounter is featured in a magazine or online article. She frequently puts the “Ask a Question” sticker in her stories and then answers tons of questions about the company, it’s products, it’s mission, and about switching to safer products in general. She’s also always recommending simple switches we can make in our everyday lives that don’t come from Beautycounter. For example: she is a big advocate for using glass storage containers for food rather than the plastic ones we likely have in our cabinets. Reheating in plastic releases chemicals that are bad for our bodies. She’s also given advice on cookware to use, deoderants and toothpastes, and even other beauty products that come from other clean beauty companies. She’s also the one spearheading the movements in congress for Beautycounter. She is incredibly smart, and I’m very proud she’s on our team and fighting for something that hopefully one day our children won’t have to fight for. Find Lindsay on Instagram for great info and at her website.
Next is Gregg Renfrew. Gregg is the Founder and CEO of Beautycounter. Gregg shares wonderful personal things on her Instagram page. Her family is precious. She also shares tons of behind-the-scenes from Beautycounter events and is all about sharing the purpose behind them. Gregg has been known to tell people that she had seen one too many of her girlfriends have trouble with fertility or be diagnosed with cancer due to exposure to toxic chemicals that are in the products we are putting on our skin or in our bodies every single day. She became passionate about getting safer products into the hands of everyone-women, men, and children. You can follow her on Instagram or Google her name for her interviews in magazines and online articles and check out her interview on the Today Show.
Finally, if you’re at all interested in makeup, follow Christy Coleman. She’s the Chief Artistic Officer at Beautycounter and the mastermind behind my favorite eyeshadow palette from last winter and the newly formulated powders and palettes of this year. Her Instagram is full of swatches of new colors, her sweet dog, and lovely florals that inspire her color creation. She likes to feature customers in her stories who tag her with their eyeshadow looks that they create and post to Instagram. She has given many hints for things to come, and I can’t wait for some of the things she’s got in the works.
I shared this information and more with my clients already in their monthly newsletter. I would love for you to join the list so that you can get the newsletter, too. There was lots more information than what is included here, and you don’t want to miss out on that! You can sign up for the newsletter HERE. I’d love for you to learn more about safer beauty with me.
If you have any questions about Beautycounter or want to learn more about a product, let’s talk! Leave a comment or send me an email, sign up for the newsletter, or visit my website. You can also learn more about why I chose to switch to safer beauty here.
Who uses safer beauty already? What are other changes you’ve made to your lifestyle that are safer choices? Did anyone throw out their non-stick pots and pans? Did anyone switch to all glass containers? I’m currently trying a clean deodorant and about a week and a half away from trying a fluoride-free toothpaste. Any recommendations on these things? Tell me all the things! Just leave a comment with your answers. *The Beautycounter links in this post are affiliate links.
