Currently Loving- August 2018

From a new job to a new favorite dessert, August has been a pretty good month.

Yes, I got a new job but just a weekend one. I’m still a teacher by day, blogger by night, and now a boutique worker by weekend. My friends, the Colemans, bought Wisteria Cottage and hired me to work on the weekends. It’s right up my alley because it’s a store full of cute and stylish clothes and accessories and then there’s home decor upstairs! Fun Fact: I bought my wedding dress way back in 2010 from Wisteria Cottage and now I get to work there. It’s funny how life comes full circle sometimes. Tailgate Tuesday- Sausage Stuffed Jalapenos

Who’s tailgating this football season? Or going to game day gatherings?

If that’s you, then you will likely be taking something for the crowd to snack on. I’m sure you’ve got some go-to recipes, but I’m here to offer you some new recipes that have been serving me well for many football seasons past.

Today, I’m sharing a delicious recipe for Sausage Stuffed Jalapenos.

I actually made this one for the first time this year, but they were well-liked, and I feel I could take them again to the same crowd. I first had this recipe while visiting my former neighbors in Louisiana. Megan made them for us, we at them all, then we made them again. They’re that good. Movie Set Monday- The Good Wife

Are you ready to see the chicest Chicago apartment on television? It’s truly one of the reasons I liked the show so much. I binged The Good Wife a while back and shared an instastory about it on my Instagram. And then just this weekend my sister-in-law told me that she has started watching it! I was so excited for her and told her to buckle up for the ride. It’s a wild one! One thing’s for sure, Alicia’s apartment is pretty spectacular.

If you’ve been around here awhile, you know I have a thing for French doors and built ins. Since this apartment has both, I’m pretty much swooning over this one picture and don’t have to see anything else.  Continue reading “Movie Set Monday- The Good Wife”

Seven on a Saturday- Seven Reasons to Love College Football

HAPPY GAME DAY!

In case you haven’t heard, today is the first Saturday of the college football season. And in case you’re reading this and don’t live in the deep south, it’s kind of a big deal.

At a rainy AU/LSU game. Took me 4 years at Auburn and a move to Baton Rouge to get a photo with Aubie.

I really fell in love with college football when I went to college. Groundbreaking stuff, I know. But it was the first time I was able to purchase season tickets and attend games on the regular, and it was awesome. I never missed a game my freshman year at Auburn, and that just so happened to be the year we went undefeated. It was 2004 and we were SEC champs. We also won the Sugar Bowl that year. It was something I’ll never forget. Continue reading “Seven on a Saturday- Seven Reasons to Love College Football”

I Shave My Face and Maybe You Should Too

Yep, you read that right. I shave my face.

I’ve done some research on the topic and have been seeing women do this since way back in the day when Caroline Manzo was on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. She shaves her face everyday. Like, lathers up and shaves her face every single day. I don’t do it like that, but I certainly ain’t knocking it! Because that’s the beauty of beauty. The Smoothie Recipe That Keeps Me Full All Morning

I’m a pretty early riser during the school year. I have to be at work early, and because I like my devotion time in the morning, I will wake up before 5:00 most days. This means I’m usually eating breakfast between 5:00 and 5:15 and don’t get to eat again until 11:00. If I eat at 5:00 a.m. and don’t eat something protein-rich, I’m hungry by 8:00 a.m. Not conducive to my teacher schedule at all.

This school year I set out on a quest to find the things that would best keep me full without having to fix a full on breakfast every morning. Enter the protein smoothie.

Movie Set Monday- You’ve Got Mail

Don’t you love when you watch a movie and it immediately becomes one you know you’ll want to watch again and again? And then you watch it so many times that the details like the clothes they wear and the homes they live in start to catch your attention? I’ll never quit loving movies, and why on Earth would I want to? Movies like You’ve Got Mail do not disappoint in the home department. They are thoughtful to the character, beautiful, and timeless. Didn’t you just love this one?

You’ve Got Mail, set in New York City, tells the story of Kathleen Kelly and her bookshop called The Shop Around the Corner that must close down due to a big-box bookstore called Fox Books owned by Joe Fox and his family. I won’t elaborate in case you’ve never seen it. And if you have, you know how it all plays out and how fantastic this story is. Continue reading “Movie Set Monday- You’ve Got Mail”

Bathroom Makeover Before…Again

Oops, I did it again! Or, I will.

I liked my guest bathroom makeover so much that I’ve started a similar one in our master bathroom. But I can’t show you an after without showing you a before. I’m sparing no mess or clutter. I want to share what we’re living with right now. It definitely needs some sprucing up and could use a bit more storage and better organization. That’s the main goal as I move forward with this project. Continue reading “Bathroom Makeover Before…Again”
