How To Set Goals For The New Year

HOW TO SET GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR

I mentioned here that I was a goal setter for each new year. I have been making my list and wanted to share my process in case anyone needed help determining a list of goals.

Categories

First, I make a list of categories or areas of my life where I’d like to set and attain goals. For example:

Business

Finances

Personal Life

Health

Work

Hobby

Marriage

Faith/Spiritual Life

Multiple Goals

In each of these categories I set multiple goals. I like to set goals that are easily attainable and goals that are a little harder to reach and take a little more work.

This doesn’t mean that I’ll reach all of these goals by year’s end, but I’ll have a list of things I’d like to achieve and can reference the list throughout the year. For example: Two goals I would set for the area of marriage would be to say thank you more often and then to take a trip somewhere we’ve never been. That second goal goes into the finances category as well, but it would be a goal I would have for our marriage because we don’t travel often or take many trips.

Also, if you have a goal in mind for an especially tough area, like health, start with a very attainable goal. If you want to work out but don’t do it that often presently, then make your first goal to do a workout once or twice a week. It doesn’t have to be a crazy hard workout like P90X either. You can just take a walk twice a week. Hey, we all have to start somewhere, right?

Write It Down

Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset

Get a notebook or journal you can reference or use easily and often. I always write down my goals for each year. Sometimes I’m discouraged when I go back to see the goals I didn’t achieve. But there are those times I’m pleased with the fact that I did meet my goal.

I am a journaler and have been for years now, so writing is not a new concept for me. I write almost every morning in a prayer journal, and one of my goals this year is to write in a gratitude journal before I go to bed every night. I find that writing things down helps me out and means something to me. I can easily go back and reference the things I’ve written down to see how I’m doing with my goals.

I do recommend starting with a fresh notebook or journal. Write these goals in the front so that you know exactly where the goals are written.

Make A Vision Board

I’ll admit I’ve never done one of these before, but I plan to. My mother-in-law was cleaning out an old closet and found a bulletin board that she didn’t need. I told her I’d love to have it, and she kindly gave it to me. I’ve been wanting to make a vision board out of it for the new year. I’ll share it when I’ve got it all set up.

And I think that you should put it where you can regularly see it and be reminded of what you’ve set out to do. Mine will go in front of my makeshift vanity so I can see it every morning while I’m getting ready.

Don’t Be Afraid To Fail

Let’s be real…chances are, we aren’t going to achieve every goal we set for ourselves. At least not on the first try. And maybe one of your goals is a long-term one that will take several years to achieve. Financial and business  goals are often that way. But we know there will be goals that we set that we just won’t make happen. I’ve been there plenty of times. And every year I set those same goals anyway. But this year really give it a chance. For example: I am a Beautycounter consultant. I’ve not put forth much effort this holiday season because I work a full-time job, and it’s super hard to hustle on the side when your full-time job requires so much of you. I’d really like to put forth effort to achieve the goal of making a little extra cash during 2018. I’d like to learn more about the company and figure out how I can spread the mission of safer beauty to the people of Greenville. That’s a tough goal, but it’s something that can be attained throughout the year. However, I’m also realistic in knowing that I may not be successful right off the bat. I might fail, but I can always reevaluate and try again. Don’t be afraid to fail! Just get back up, dust off your pants, and try another way.

How do you set goals? Do you write them down like I do?

Happy New Year!

Elizabeth

New Year, New You

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU

Do you do resolutions? Those mostly unattainable goals that you give up on a week or two into it? Maybe you even make it to February then crash and burn.

I’ve been known to set an unattainable goal and fail miserably…on more than one occasion. But last year I set a goal, and I actually accomplished it in February. That goal was to start a blog. I knew that I needed something different in my life, something new. I needed a creative outlet.

I’m one of those cliches that takes a step back and looks at her life from the past year when the calendar year is coming to an end. I like to set goals, but I don’t usually put too much pressure on myself. Some of them are simple things I could do everyday like drink more water, and some are bigger goals like save money for a downpayment on a house or pay off student loan debt. And then there are those you know you need to do but also know you’re not really going to do it like cutting sugar completely out of your diet or working out every single day.

I’m still working on my list of goals for the new year, but I hope I get them finalized before January 1st. (Not procrastinating so much is one of those goals.) 🙂

So, do you make resolutions or set goals? Do you stick with them? Have you ever set a really big one and seen it through? I’d love to hear about them in the comments.

I hope y’all had a great Christmas!

Elizabeth

Changes

CHANGES

I put my Christmas tree up early this year. Before Thanksgiving. We’re talking November 4th. I’ve never done that. Like, ever.

And I’m always an advocate for decorating with the ornaments you collect over the years and not really having a themed tree but rather having all those memories hanging in one place and providing sweet memories as you decorate and enjoy your tree throughout the season. And this year I didn’t do that.

In our house in Louisiana I had two trees, one big one with colored lights and all the ornaments we’ve collected over our years of marriage. Then I became okay with the idea of a themed tree as long as we still had the traditional one. So we got a second tree that went in our dining room and was completely Auburn themed. It had twinkling orange lights (buy them at Halloween) and blue lights (can be found at Christmas). We used toilet paper as garland (for rolling Toomer’s Corner) and thanks to my Mother-in-Law and after-Christmas sales, we had every Auburn ornament that could be found in and around Greenville.

Then we moved to Alabama and couldn’t fit our big tree into the living room. We used our Auburn tree (tall and skinny), put white lights on it (another thing I’ve never done-I’ve always been a colored lights girl) and combined Auburn and sentimental ornaments.

And this year, as I’ve been embracing my love of all things neutral, I threw tradition out the window, put up my tree at the beginning of November, stayed with the white lights, did a little DIY to make new ornaments, and used only a few of the ornaments we’ve collected over the years. And I only used the ones without any actual color. I have all neutral colored ornaments and gold and silver ones. I even used an old white tree skirt (that I never use) because it completed the look I was going for better than the gorgeous red one I usually use that matches my stockings. (I’m seriously considering getting new stockings too.) Just don’t tell Paul!

More to come on that decor soon.

So Why the Change?

In a short answer- I don’t know.

I can’t really put my finger on it, but I just feel like shaking things up. Changing for the better, I think, but changing nonetheless.

Have you ever gone through a season of change? Where things just seemed turned upside down in your life or like things didn’t fit together the way they used to? Or maybe…just maybe…it’s that things are actually starting to fit together like they were always meant to?

So, naturally, the need for change is starting in my home. I literally took a can of spray paint to a lamp last week.  It used to be gold-toned with a champagne colored shade. And then the lamp shade got paint today.

And as much as I love my gallery wall, I want to change that too. What’s going on in my brain?

To quote John Mayer- “It might be a quarter life crisis or just the stirring in my soul.” (Why Georgia) I love that line.

Sure, I might be a year (or 5) past the actual quarter life stage, but mine didn’t start until about 30, and I don’t know the mathematical translation, so quarter life it is.

Anywho, changes are inevitable in life, I know that. I expect them and have even welcomed them when I knew they were right. For example: Our moving back to Alabama was definitely the right thing for us to do. God was all over that. I knew without any doubt that it was all going to be just fine with everything concerning our move. And then we got here and so much changed in our lives. We lost 4 family members within the first 6 months of us being here, I’ve gotten a new job, I started this blog, I joined as a consultant to Beautycounter, Paul has established regular clients that take golf lessons from him, he is able to be a coach to his cousin who is on a professional golf tour, and the list goes on and on.

Thankful for the Change

The point is, I’m not afraid of change. I just wish I knew what all the change meant. The change that’s “stirring in my soul”. Thankfully I have Paul who puts up with all of my soul changes (and my decor changes). And thankfully I have an incredibly supportive family who has gone through the biggest changes of the past year with me. And most of all, I, thankfully, have a Heavenly Father that is guiding me through all of these changes.

So, if anyone has been going through a season of change, I hope you find this encouraging. You are not alone. And as we figure out who we truly are and how to embrace the changes in our lives, let’s not forget to be thankful for what we do have, what we already know, and what’s to come. And to thank God in the process and for the process of change. Because life can’t always stay the same. How boring would that be, anyway?

Happy Monday, y’all!

House For Sale

HOUSE FOR SALE

Happy Saturday, y’all!

Guess what? My family has a house for sale.

It’s a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with a kitchen, dining room, living room, and den. The dining, living, one of the bedrooms, and hallway have hardwood floors. The den and other two bedrooms have brand new carpet. The backyard is very spacious with a storage house and plenty of room for a trampoline and playsets.

My grandparents and great aunt lived there for about 10 years before they passed away over the course of this past year. The house has been cleaned up and cleaned out and needs some new owners.

Let’s Take a Quick Look Around

This is the dining room looking into the living room. These rooms are on the front of the house and get incredible natural light. We’ve had so many wonderful meals in this room. Many Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, birthday celebrations and Sunday lunches too. The room is quite spacious. Granny had some pretty substantial furniture in there, and there was room for everyone around the table along with her precious furniture.

The living room is also a great size. It gets great light and was a perfect napping spot since it was far enough away from the den with the westerns on the TV Granddaddy liked to watch and is closed off enough from the hustle and bustle of the people in the kitchen.

Just off the living room is a hallway that leads to one of the bedrooms and a bathroom. The bedroom has a sliding-door closet and those pretty wood floors. It gets good natural light with two windows, too.

The bathroom is a full bath with a tub/shower combo. It has lots of shelving (out of frame) for towels, personal care products, etc. It’s a great bathroom. It has an interesting L-shaped design to it that I always kind of loved. Let’s just say people can’t exactly barge in on you in case you forget to lock the door-you have time to shout out first. 🙂

Leading into the dining room is the kitchen. If only I could taste my granny’s cooking again. You know Grandma’s cooking is the best! The room is actually a great size. I know the trend is huge islands and open floor plans, but this kitchen is a functioning space that has held 1-10 people at once. My grandparents also had a little table pushed against the pushed against the wall (out of frame) where they sat with my great aunt to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. There was still tons of room to move around in the kitchen, even with the table.

On the other side of the house, just off the kitchen, is a den, two bedrooms, and another full bath. This is the larger of the other two bedrooms. It has brand new carpet. The sliding door closet is actually a very nice size. My current closet is the same size as this one, and I have plenty of room with some to spare.

This room gets great natural light with that big window. This is another room that is actually really large. My granny loved her furniture. She filled this room with itand still had plenty of room to spare.

This is the third bedroom. It is a little smaller than the one just above, but this one has a walk-in closet. This room did have a full-sized bed, dresser, chest of drawers, and bedside tables.

The second bathroom has a shower but no tub, toilet, sink, and built in cabinets for storage. None of the rooms have an en suite, but all bathrooms are in such close proximity to the bedrooms that it wouldn’t be any inconvenience.

Out back, like I said there is so much space. This is the storage house. It has a brand new door and is up to code. It might need a coat of paint, but that’s not a big job at all. It’s also really spacious. Granddaddy had so many tools from his workshop stored in there plus plenty more. And if you didn’t need any storage space, think about what a fun playhouse or art studio it could be! There you have it. It’s really a sweet house. That front porch is wonderful on those perfect spring and fall days when it feels so good here.

It’s located on Hillcrest Drive here in Greenville. If you know anyone interested in buying a house, please let us know. There is a For Sale by Owner sign in the yard with contact information on it. But I’d be happy to help you out if you needed a phone number or wanted to schedule a time to come by and see it.

Please share this post on social media to help spread the word. Leave me a comment if you’re interested yourself!

Thanks for stopping by today. Those sweet Grandparents of mine had a great house. I’d love for someone else to come in and make it their own.

I hope y’all enjoy your weekend! Come downtown to Open House at some of the shops downtown today and support our local businesses.

XO,

Elizabeth

Thursday Thoughts- Deep Thoughts

THURSDAY THOUGHTS

Happy Thursday, y’all!

I am definitely happy it is Friday Eve! Most of us have a long weekend ahead of us and the first college football weekend at that. Both of those things make me very happy about this coming few days.

Now for the Deep Thoughts

So, I got a reality check on Monday as I was getting ready for work, I was just not feeling it. I had a case of the Mondays for sure. I found a picture on Instagram that was of a girl dressed in a really cute fall outfit on a sunny autumn day with a cup of coffee and a book. She was sitting on a park bench reading this book, and I thought, THAT! That’s what I want to be doing today instead of going to work.

It wasn’t this exact picture, but a Google Image search gave me this, and it’s pretty similar.

I was just about to regram the shot when I scrolled down a few more and noticed more tragedy in Texas. And it just hit me that no matter how bad of a case of the Mondays I may have, my Monday is a cake walk compared to the people of Houston.

It’s been a year since Paul and I moved back to Greenville, and it’s also been a year since Louisiana had their flood. I know so many people that were affected by this. People who essentially lost their homes and have had to rebuild or restore, people who had mere inches of land left before water came inside their house, people who got in their boats and went to rescue others who were trapped on their rooftops. I can’t help but think about all of those people in Texas who maybe weren’t prepared for such flooding. I feel like people in Louisiana often expect it, especially after Hurricane Katrina. Maybe expect isn’t the right word…they just know it’s a real possibility that when the weather man says flooding, they mean business. People take precautions with sandbags and evacuations, but I wonder if the people of Texas thought maybe it wouldn’t be that bad.

My heart goes out to them. Paul and I were spared of any flooding last year. It literally just rained in our neighborhood. There was no real water accumulation in the street or any standing water too near our house. We were in the process of trying to sell it too. We were so blessed by God. I’ve seen the devastation flooding leaves behind. I’ve seen pool ladders hanging in trees along the road; I’ve seen furniture from an entire house piled by the road at driveway after driveway for miles. It’s awful.

I say all this because no matter how bad my Monday felt, how much coffee I needed and didn’t get to drink, how many times I yawned because I stayed up too late watching Game of Thrones, none of that matters. What matters is that I remember how incredibly blessed I am with the things I do have.

Pray, Y’all

Send out your prayers to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. There’s a lot that’s about to happen in the rebuilding process of the communities and families that were devastated. It’ll be long and hard, but I know that if Louisiana could come together to be #louisianastrong, then Texas can do the same. And I have to say how proud I was to see people on social media posting about the Cajun Navy (regular men and women from the gracious state of Louisiana) going out of their way with their own trucks and boats to help rescue these people from dangerous situations.

Google Images

I’m not here to tell you to donate your money. By all means, if you have it, do it. I know of some reputable places that you can send your money to if you’re wanting to donate, but I’m asking you to pray. Pray for healing and restoration in the great state of Texas and for it’s people. And thank God for your blessings. Even if it’s been a bad day, I can always find at least one thing to be thankful for. I bet you can too.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

 And War Eagle!

Anniversary

Seven years ago on a very, VERY hot July day, I made my whole wedding party take outside pictures, stand on a stage for a very long ceremony (there was a lot of music and several readings), and then I didn’t even give them a party afterwards! I had a church wedding with a church reception (Baptist church, mind you, so there was definitely no dancing or booze). I’ve been to some great weddings where the music was loud and the wine was flowing, but I have to say, our wedding is my favorite wedding I’ve ever been to. And even though everything was done exactly to my liking and every detail was attended to, the guy waiting for me at the end of the aisle was my most favorite part. He’s my favorite person in all the world, and I am happy that we’ve reached year seven.

As I reflect on our actual wedding, I appreciate how he let me choose the music but put his spin on it at the end with some James Taylor. I appreciate that he let my preacher give a message of faith to us and to everyone in attendance, but he asked his dad to actually officiate the ceremony making it one of the most special parts of that day. I appreciate that he let me choose the decor for the reception but that he still insisted we have pigs in a blanket to eat. (And for all you people thinking that’s tacky-those were the first things to disappear at our reception.) I appreciate that he let me have the readings I wanted during the ceremony and then he asked some of the most wonderful people to read and selected some of the most moving passages to be read. It wasn’t just MY day as a bride. It was our day as a couple. It was a beautiful day.

I thank God everyday that He gave me Paul to love in this life. It’s so evident that God puts people together for a reason, and that there really is one person for you to spend the rest of your life with. God knew I needed him. And God knew he needed me.

Thank you, Paul, for taking me in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, loving me and cherishing me for richer and for poorer. I am immeasurably blessed.

I tell you, Ian did not want any part of this wedding. Not even the pictures. And those of you who’ve seen Grace, Ian, and Alex lately…they were just babies here and are so grown up now. 🙁 The dress Grace is wearing is one of my Easter dresses when I was little. My Aunt Sharon made it for me, all by hand.
My favorite picture of my girls. I remember everyone telling Ian something about Superman in order to get him to take pictures. They’re probably plotting the best way to talk Paul out of marrying a psychopath that would make them stand out in the July heat to take pictures in tuxes.Roo Doo always making him laugh.
Sweet Mason 🙂Granddaddy getting him to smile. I wonder what Grace just said to Christy. Probably my favorite picture of the whole day. I don’t know what we were arguing about, but I know it was something. What’s that line in The Notebook? “Well that’s what we do, we fight… You tell me when I am being an arrogant son of a bitch, and I tell you when you’re being a pain in the ass. Which you are, 99% of the time. I’m not afraid to hurt your feelings. You have like a 2 second rebound rate, then you’re back doing the next pain-in-the-ass thing.”-Noah  That sums us up in a nutshell. 😉 Seriously didn’t think Ian was going to do it. So proud of him! Our brothers. Ben wrote us a song and performed it. He also played and sang another song during the ceremony. My forever favorite picture of Trawick and me. Sport! Those pigs in a blanket, y’all. They really were the biggest hit.Happy Anniversary, babe! I love you!

Happy Mother’s Day

Mothers are extraordinary beings. I’ve never quite figured it out. Probably because I’m not one. I know that I want to be a mother one day, but the very idea of it has been known to send a shock of panic through me.

I used to just think about there being a baby that I had to care for, but then one day I started thinking about the fact that those little babies grow up, drive cars, date people, and eventually leave you to go to college. I had a major aversion to motherhood the day I had those thoughts. How could someone subject themselves to that kind of panic and lack of control over something else? How could someone afford another car payment and college tuition and then maybe even a wedding? How could someone give up a part of their heart like that? These women are crazy!

But if you think about it a little bit, they actually aren’t crazy. They are kind, giving, selfless, patient, believing, trusting, sacrificing, teaching, and loving. Mothers are superstars. Mothers are amazing. Mothers are inspiring.

I have a mother who loved me, trusted me (even when I betrayed that trust), disciplined me, taught me, gave up things (so many things) for me, was patient with me, prayed for me, and believed in me. She still does all of these things.

I have a mother-in-law who loves me, trusts me, teaches me, gives up things for me, prays for me, believes in me, heck, she’s probably even disciplined me!

I’m one of the lucky ones. Not everyone gets a good mother. Not everyone gets a mother at all. I’ve got two really great ones in my life. I’ve had more. So many mother figures in my life in the form of friends’ mothers, grandmothers, aunts, cousins, and coworkers. Each one has shaped me into the person that I am today. Each has influenced me, whether good or bad, and for that I’m grateful.

Dads can be mothers too. Sometimes life deals you that hand, and to those dads pulling double duty, Happy Mother’s Day to you, too.

There are even mothers out there who haven’t had their babies yet, but they know that they are mothers deep down. The ones that maybe are struggling to get their family to take shape. The ones who are waiting for that phone call or email that says to come get your baby. The ones who are just waiting for the right time because they know now isn’t it.

I’m amazed all the time at mothers. The things they can handle. The things they can get through. The things they can do. The way they cook. They way they clean. The way they can multitask. The way everything always seems to get done. But most importantly, while doing all of those things (and more), it’s the way they love that gets me the most.

Mothers are extraordinary beings.

Happy Mother’s Day to all.

That Thrift Store Down the Road

Two weeks ago I had an opportunity to go to the lovely city of Birmingham, Alabama to attend a Pre-K conference. The conference was quite informative and taught me some new tricks to keep up my sleeve for the classroom. The women who were presenting are seasoned educators that really know their stuff. If you are a fellow teacher and want some fresh ideas you can check out their blogs here:

Lori Elliot

Kathy Griffin (No, not that one. Can you imagine? Ha!)

Natalie Daise

So, let’s get to the good stuff, shall we? I went thrift store shopping, y’all! I got turned on to Goodwill and thrift store shopping when my mom talked about going with one of her good friends and would always scored some awesome deals on Polo shirts for my dad and brother and usually found some really good things for her classroom. Well, wouldn’t you know that this friend my mom goes thrift store shopping with was the other teacher that went to the conference. And isn’t it so convenient that she used to live there and knows about virtually ALL of the good thrift stores.

I’d been going to Goodwill and another thrift store called Here Today, Gone Tomorrow in Louisiana and always found books that were on my TBR list. I love to read, and I love the public library, but I really love to own my books. And when they’re $1.00-$2.50 at thrift stores, I can’t help but to “splurge”.

However while I was shopping in Birmingham, I was able to get much more than just books! I’m so excited about my fun finds!

The first store we went to was called America’s Thrift Store.

It was huge and had rows and rows and rows of clothes, books, shoes, toys, knick knacks, and I didn’t even attempt to look at the furniture section. I knew I’d want to leave with something, and there was not room for furniture.

But at this particular store I found two pairs of shoes.

The leopard flats are originally from American Eagle. They have a few imperfections but ultimately looked like they had hardly been worn. I’ve been wanting some for a long time but didn’t really want to shell out the money for the high price tag of the ones I really wanted. And these were $3.00. I mean…how cute, right?

The sparkly ones are Mossimo brand from Target. They too had been worn very little. The soles are thick like a flatform and are white. They had a little dirt on them, but nothing a magic eraser won’t fix or even a good scrubbing with some soap and water. I also have been wanting some of these types of shoes for a bit of a casual, comfortable shoe to teach in, and I wanted a piece that could maybe take me into the athleisure trend that’s happening right now in fashion. But I wasn’t so sure it was really my style since I’m a little more dressed up with my work wardrobe at my current school. But then these were staring at my all sparkly. I instantly got all the heart eyes for these, and I couldn’t say no to the $2.50 price tag. $2.50 guys…$2.50. Why aren’t you all thrift store shopping?

I had some fun trying on some gems while I was browsing the clothing section. Check out this dress that I believe any of the Golden Girls tossed out. I secretly loved it and had it not been a bit big, I probably would have bought it and found the perfect pair of sandals to go with it. Oh, and removed the giant shoulder pads. 🙂

And then I found this cute little animal print dress that was by Calvin Klein. But it didn’t fit either. Would have made a really cute dress or swimsuit cover-up for someone.

After all that shopping we got pretty hungry and went to The Cheesecake Factory. And if you’ve never been there, just do yourself a favor and go. I can’t believe I’ve lived 30 years without eating there. I’m a little ashamed to admit this, but we ate there twice. The first night I got the original cheesecake with strawberries. I believe it’s call the Fresh Strawberry Cheesecake. It was amazing. But the second time we went………………………..

Yep. That one. The Chocolate Mouse Cheesecake. Listen, I love chocolate, and I love cheesecake. So this was sort of like the best choice I could have made.

After the conference was over, my mom and I decided to stay one more night and do a little more shopping. We were only able to go to this place, The Foundry. This is where I found most of my treasures.

I found some great coffee mugs. I didn’t have any need for them, but I thought they were particularly funny and snapped some pics to share with a few friends.

Any Scandal fans out there? Mrs. Susie thought this one was funny.

Apparently having a coffee mug from the King of Sweden isn’t that cool or else it wouldn’t have ended up here, right? I, on the other hand, thought it was very cool and never would have given it up.

And this one was just too cute. I should have bought this one.

I also saw this gorgeous piano. I love pianos. The picture didn’t pick up how bright and pretty the gold screen was.

I also got these candle holders with a marble base and this milk glass vase. I brought them home and cleaned them up a bit, but the candle holders are going to need a lot of TLC if they can be salvaged. But if not, they were only about $3.00 a piece. I loved the gem-like cuts on the vase. It only set my back $.29!

Then I found the coziest sweater there ever was and it too was $3.00. If only winter would show up in Alabama so that I could wear it more than once or twice.

Mom picked out this cute grey cardigan that I wore with a scarf I picked up at the other thrift store we went to. I love the bright colors against the black.

Then I found this….

You know that scene in Beauty and the Beast when the Beast shows Belle the library and she’s in awe because, well, because it’s awesome? Well, this was pretty close to that for me. I don’t know that man, but he wouldn’t move so he made the shot. 🙂 I picked up several books here along with a few from another thrift store we went to called Vapor Thrift Store.

This is where I went wrong shopping at multiple thrift stores for books. I ended up with duplicates. I posted about it on Instagram just the other day about how I felt like I had made a thrifting rookie mistake.

This one is full of dog-eared pages and highlighted passages. I love when I find books like that.

I NEVER find Dave Ramsey books at thrift stores. I was so excited to get my hands on one. Who couldn’t use a bit of financial guidance?

This is just one that’s been on my TBR (to be read) list for a while.

I’ve never read this author before, but when I read what each of these was about, I knew I needed to buy them. The Senator’s Wife only ended up being $.85!

I have the first book in this trilogy. Did y’all know Robert Galbraith is a pseudonym for J.K. Rowling?

Another from my TBR list.

This is what I’m currently reading. She’s hilarious! I’m really enjoying it so far. It is also thrifted but not from this trip.

We were pretty exhausted after that, but we pressed on in the name of shopping. We hit up Belk in Alabaster and Walmart too. Then we grabbed some Chick-fil-A and headed back home.

I think we did enough damage. There was more in the back!

My sweet Mama.

Am I part of a small group of people who likes to thrift or are there more of you out there? And are there any other book worms? Have you read any of these books?

I realize thrift store shopping isn’t for everyone. Some people think it’s gross, but I don’t think so. It certainly doesn’t hurt to get a deal on a great pair of shoes, a cozy sweater, and some super affordable books. And if you’re one of those who loves the thrill of the hunt for something, thrifting is your game.
