Holiday 2020 at Beautycounter

I can’t believe it’s time to start thinking about the holidays and all the shopping we need to do, but it’s only a little over 70 days away. Luckily, Beautycounter always gives us some good options. The sets make easy gifts for besties, moms, mothers and daughters in-law, daughters, teachers, co-workers, and even yourself. Here’s a little breakdown of what this year’s goodness looks like so far.

5 Good Things | No. 14

How fun and normal was it that football was back on Saturday? We Normans were pretty excited to watch Auburn. I finally got to have rotel cheese dip, which I’ve been craving for about three weeks. We also had regular chores like Bernie getting groomed and Jack getting his nails trimmed. And I got laundry and vacuuming done. It was a pretty productive but low-key weekend. My favorite kind. Also, Paul shot his lowest round of golf at the country club, I found a new gumbo recipe I’m going to try soon, and I just got word that something very cool from Beautycounter is getting ready to launch! So many great things from the week!

My, my, my! What a week! I thought I was going to be starting my first full week of school, but Hurricane Sally had other plans for us. Thankfully, all was well in the Norman house. I did have some bright spots during the week and have listed them below for you. One of them was definitely getting to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of Paul’s cousin Cam to his beautiful fiance, Bailey! Did you get a look at all those Normans in one picture? Welcome to the family, Bailey!

Crock Pot Greek Chicken with Homemade Tzatziki Sauce Recipe

When Paul and I lived in Louisiana, we were introduced to some Greek and Lebanese restaurants. Then we tried out the Taziki’s chain in Montgomery and then we tried the Pita chain. Both were good and mostly satisfied our craving, but we wanted to be able to recreate something with those flavors at home. We were finally able to with the recipe I’m sharing today! I ended up using two different recipes, both from screenshots of Instagram stories I saw. To top it off, I didn’t take the screenshot correctly where I could see the person who posted it. So, there’s no link for me to give you. I’ll try to be as thorough as possible as I relay it to you. But please know that I do not take credit for creating this recipe.

Things that Stopped My Scroll

Sometimes I’ll be scrolling through Instagram, and a picture will absolutely stop me dead in my scroll. It’s happened to me a lot in the past few weeks, and when it does happen, I save that post to revisit later. I was reviewing my saved posts and decided I had a lot of good ones- some from really great accounts- and I want to share them with you today.
We’re currently home during Hurricane Sally, so I hope that this post will help occupy some of your time while you’re stuck at home. Y’all stay safe!

Rise and shine! This weekend was filled with relaxing after my first week with students, preparing for the new format of learning we’ll be doing, laundry, and a Hamilton re-watch/sing-a-long. Paul and I got to cook breakfast Sunday morning, which we haven’t been able to do in quite a while, so that was good for my soul. Every week I try to write down the things that have been “good” in my opinion, and I round them up to share with you here. I’ve got a good list today. Let’s get started.

5 Good Things | No. 11

Happy September, my friends! I just love that change in the calendar when August gives way to September. Something about seeing that word September makes me so hopeful for fall. I don’t know exactly what it is about this time of year- pumpkin spice, football, falling leaves- whatever it is, it makes me want to put on a pair of boots, get a hot coffee, and walk through a park with orange and yellow and red trees. Now, we won’t see trees that color until about November here in Alabama, and my air conditioner is steadily running, but a girl can dream. And dream I will! So as wonderful as the calendar saying September now is, I do have five more good things to share with you.

Current Obsession: Dainty Necklaces

Accessories can make or break an outfit, but one sure fire way to make your outfit is by adding a dainty necklace or two. It helps you look put together and like you put some thought into finishing your look even if you totally didn’t. I also think it’s fun to find jewelry with meaning. Whether it’s meaningful to you or to the person you’re planning to gift a piece of jewelry to, when it represents something significant, it will mean that much more every time you put it on. Not to sound all Joanna Gaines, but being intentional about your purchases, especially jewelry, especially fine jewelry, they’ll be pieces that you will want to take care of, wear often, and keep in your possession for years and possibly generations to come. Today, I’ve rounded up a few necklaces and retailers that will help complete any outfit that may need that little something extra.

Well, it is my last week of summer. This is not one of my five good things. I am definitely one of those teachers that loves her summers off. And seeing as how I’ve had “off” since March, it’s going to be a hard pill to swallow to actually be dressed and at work at 7:30 on Monday morning. I do feel like I had a nice break, though. One good thing is: I’m happy to have a job. Definitely a good thing! Here’s a few more good things to share.
