5 Good Things | No. 11

Happy September, my friends! I just love that change in the calendar when August gives way to September. Something about seeing that word September makes me so hopeful for fall. I don’t know exactly what it is about this time of year- pumpkin spice, football, falling leaves- whatever it is, it makes me want to put on a pair of boots, get a hot coffee, and walk through a park with orange and yellow and red trees. Now, we won’t see trees that color until about November here in Alabama, and my air conditioner is steadily running, but a girl can dream. And dream I will! So as wonderful as the calendar saying September now is, I do have five more good things to share with you.

Current Obsession: Dainty Necklaces

Accessories can make or break an outfit, but one sure fire way to make your outfit is by adding a dainty necklace or two. It helps you look put together and like you put some thought into finishing your look even if you totally didn’t. I also think it’s fun to find jewelry with meaning. Whether it’s meaningful to you or to the person you’re planning to gift a piece of jewelry to, when it represents something significant, it will mean that much more every time you put it on. Not to sound all Joanna Gaines, but being intentional about your purchases, especially jewelry, especially fine jewelry, they’ll be pieces that you will want to take care of, wear often, and keep in your possession for years and possibly generations to come. Today, I’ve rounded up a few necklaces and retailers that will help complete any outfit that may need that little something extra.

5 Good Things | No. 10

Well, it is my last week of summer. This is not one of my five good things. I am definitely one of those teachers that loves her summers off. And seeing as how I’ve had “off” since March, it’s going to be a hard pill to swallow to actually be dressed and at work at 7:30 on Monday morning. I do feel like I had a nice break, though. One good thing is: I’m happy to have a job. Definitely a good thing! Here’s a few more good things to share.

10 Lessons I’ve Learned in 10 Years of Marriage

It’s a funny thing to choose someone to spend the rest of your life with. I say that because when you’re falling in love and making that decision, you don’t realize what all is going to happen in your future together. You can’t begin to imagine the things you’ll get to face as a couple. We’ve been through a lot together in these ten years, and I am happy that as we get ready to start the next decade, that we’ve got a little bit of knowledge and know-how to help us navigate the way. Now don’t you for a second think I’ve got anything figured out, because I certainly do not. But, I have learned A LOT and want to share that with you as a tribute to my now ten year old marriage.

Be honest, how many of you are listening to Folklore on repeat? I know I’m not the only one. What a happy surprise from Taylor! I’ve loved it. My top 5 songs:
1. The Last Great American Dynasty
2. Exile
3. Illicit Affairs
4. Cardigan
5. Epiphany
Also love Peace, Invisible String, The 1, and This is Me Trying but honestly, the whole thing is incredible. Well done, Ms. Swift.

How’s everyone doing after a long holiday weekend? I’m a little slow to start on this Monday. Mostly because I chose to watch Hamilton (again) yesterday rather than do anything productive. Oh well. YOLO, right? Speaking of Hamilton, let’s dive into today’s 5 good things.

5 Good Things | No. 7

This weekend we visited my brother, Andrew, and his wife, Anna, at their home in Montgomery. They cooked for us and put us up for the night, and it was so nice to see them. I don’t think we’ve seen each other since before March. I’m also 3/4 of the way done with my tassel trim on the curtains I got for our living room. I ran out of the hem tape, so I’ll be making a run to the store soon. Maybe that’ll be a good thing for next week. I’ve got a few more than 5 good things this week. Let me know your thoughts on them if you find them to be good things, too.

Chicken Salad Recipe

I found a random bottle of flavored mustard a while back at Walmart and bought it on a whim. I used it on turkey sandwiches and then saw someone on Instagram making chicken salad. She made hers with jalapenos. That got me thinking that I also had an interesting ingredient that I could use to make my own chicken salad.
