Currently Loving- September 2019

I sure hope October is bringing some cooler temperatures! So long, September and your record highs, your drought, and your ridiculous power bills. We are all done with you! October, please bring us highs of 80 instead of 100, the desire to drink hot coffee instead of iced, the need to wear the sweaters we’ve all been buying but haven’t been able to wear, and better attitudes because we’ll no longer be drenched in sweat. Please and thank you.

I’m not as bitter as I sound, but I sure am ready for October. October really signifies fall to me. It’s essentially the beginning of the holiday season, and let’s face it, there’s just something about this time of year that can make you feel hope and happiness like no other time of the year can. It’s a time of new beginnings and opportunity, and I always have a sense of optimism inside when October rolls around. I am trying to set my intentions for this season since I’m already realizing how busy it’s going to be. But for now, let’s reflect on some of the greatness of September.

Tinted Sunscreen- Yeah, It’s a Thing

One of the great things about Beautycounter is its mission to get safer products into the hands of everyone. The key word being everyone. All genders, all ages, and all races. The tinted sunscreen is exactly the kind of thing that sets Beautycounter apart from all the rest in the sunscreen game. Well, that and the fact that it’s safe for you.

Currently Loving- May 2019

Hi, friends! It’s the end of May! This is particularly exciting if you are a teacher or work a teacher’s schedule. That means my wake ups won’t be quite as early, and I won’t have to be in charge of twenty little people at any given time. Basically, I get to live my best life. 🙂 Technically, I’ll still have to set an alarm (trying to make exercise a real thing now that I’m almost mid-30s), and I’ll be checking in with my mama on the regular now that she’s broken her ankle and has to be off of it for most of the summer. But it isn’t lost on me how blessed I am to have the summer off and not have to go to my actual job every day. #perksofbeingateacher

My Current Beautycounter Favorites

Hi, friends! Now that it’s April and I’ve had a whole week off of school, my brain is back and functioning on all kinds of levels. It may be all the extra coffee I’ve needed this week as I’ve gotten back into the school routine, but whatevs. All I know is that I have been brainstorming ideas like crazy for this blog. April is going to be one of the busiest months ever, but I’m going to give it a go and try to do it all. Fingers crossed.

2018 Favorites

Every month I write out a list of my favorite things in a series here on the blog called Currently Loving. Out of the last twelve months, I’ve come up with a list of things that I’ve loved over the whole 2018 year. Below you will find seven categories of things that brought me joy, things that I wore and/or still wear, things that I love to eat, and plenty of other randomness that I loved during 2018.

What’s Left in the Beautycounter Winter Sale?

Happy New Year, friends! I decided to take my entire winter break off of all work, including blogging, in order to rest. And rest I did. I’ve got lots of new year content planned for this month, but the most pressing matter at hand is this sale happening at Beautycounter.

It’s been happening for a while now, and I wanted to share what’s left. I’ve already been seeing some of you snag some of the items from the sale, and I’m so thankful and excited for you! Safer beauty in the new year! Yeah!

What’s Left?

Velvete Eyeshadow Palette in Iconic

Excellent powder formulation went into making these eye shadows. And do NOT be afraid of that blue color. It stands out the most, but look at the beautiful colors around it. I’ve also seen people wear the blue, and it can be as subtle or as bold as you want it to be. Gorgeous! $32.50 down from $50

Necessary Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

Last year the palette was called the Ultimate Nudes Palette (not available anymore) and I’m still using it a year later and have only used up one color all the way because I couldn’t quit it. The color pay-off is insane. That’s why it lasts so long; they’re very pigmented. If you have a precision brush, you can use the darkest colors as a liner, and I do that all the time. And now that it’s on SUPER sale, you should really grab it, like, now. $62.30 down from $89

Eyeshadow Duo in Shell/Malt

This eyeshadow duo is available in five color combos and are all excellent neutral palettes for you to try. $19.25 down from $35

Color Portfolio Palette

Want to sample a little bit of everything? Then you need this palette! Are you a makeup artist? Try incorporating some safer beauty into your bag of tricks with this portfolio. You’ll get to try it out and introduce clients to a safer brand of beauty without sacrificing the performance of the product. $23.20 down from $58

Color Intense Lipstick Duo

I have said it once and I’ll say it again- These lipsticks are awesome! They are soft, pigmented, and they last. Not to mention the beautiful packaging. These are the perfect everyday colors that aren’t too bold but will still show up. And a stupid good deal! $34.40 down from $49

Mini Color Intense Lipstick Vault

And if you do like a little more punch on your lips, give this mini vault a go. Gorgeous colors and a total steal! $51.35 down from $79

Mini Lip Gloss Vault

Best lip glosses on the market. I’m telling you. What are you waiting for??? Share these with your besties or your daughters or moms or sisters or anyone! Another incredible deal. $57.85 down from $89

Sheer Lipstick in Coral

Bold color on your lips not your thing? No worries, Beautycounter has these beautiful sheer lipsticks that don’t deposit a lot of color. They provide just enough to make you look like you have on something, but without looking like “Here comes Elizabeth and her lips.” (That’s something my mom used to say when I pretended I was Dolly Parton and played in the makeup when I was younger.) 🙂 $17.60 down from $32

Sheer Lipstick in Nude
First Light Highlighter Palette

I’ve seen this highlighter palette in action and it’s bomb. If you like that glow, this is for you! Beautiful. $29.40 down from $49

Satin Powder Blush in Raspberry

Um, hello cutest packaging EVER! This raspberry color is the only color available in the satin powder blushes, and it would be perfect for someone with a dark complexion. The color is stunning! $15 down from $30

Powder Blush Duo in Tawny/Whisper

This particular blush color looks more like a bronzer, but I just threw my completely empty pan out because I loved it THAT much. It’s available in other two other colors and there’s something for all skin tones. Love it! $23.10 down from $42

Crease Eye Brush

These brushes are all fantastic. Excellently crafted, and I rarely have a lot of fallout from product when I use them. The crease eye brush is available in this black and white above and in blue down below. $13.25 down from $25

Flat Complexion Brush
Angled Blush Brush

I have this brush, too, and I really enjoy it. It’s great for blush, but also really good for highlighting. $21 down from $35

Crease Eye Brush in Blue
Repair and Nourish Split End Serum

Did y’all know Beautycounter has hair products? This split end serum is excellent for the dryness in our hair in the winter. Get it now while it’s on sale! $12.80 down from $32

Instant Awakening Trio

Saved the best for last! I’m telling you the Overnight Resurfacing Peel is all that it’s cracked up to be and more. I know you’ll enjoy this set. You deserve it! $62.30 down from $89

There you have it, it’s all that’s left, so if you want something, HURRY! Sale ends soon, and you won’t want to miss out. It won’t happen again until next winter. If you do order, all sales from the winter sale are final. But that won’t matter. You’ll be loving your products too much. 🙂

Happy Saturday, my friends! And Happy Shopping!

Product Review | Countercontrol Matte Effect Gel Cream

This post has been in the works for a while, and I’m glad I’m finally getting to write it. Being a Beautycounter consultant means that I need to be well-versed in my products. I don’t always have the need for the newest skincare lines and products they release, but when they came out with their Countercontrol line, which is geared towards those of us with oily and acne-prone skin, I knew it was something I wanted to try. I had a good bit of the Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion left, so I wanted to use that up before I completely shook up my routine.
